Solution

No solution today: instead, take as long as you wish to crack it. For me, it took many sittings, with pieces on the board, before the ‘eureka’ moment occurred, and then it all fall into place.

A beautiful puzzle. “Simple, but not easy” to use one of Jacob’s phrases.
