Daily chess puzzle: Check Mate #146

October 31, 2016

Another puzzle from Dragoslav Andric’s 1981 book “Matni Udar”.

White to play and mate Black

Kazic v Vuckovic, correspondence 1940

Fairly standard: 1 Ne5 is a typical sacrifice of the Qd1, and after 1…Bd1 2 Nd7! is the nice point of this particular combination.

If 2…Be7 3 Nef6+ Bf6[] 4 Re8+! and 5 Nf6 mate.
