Daily chess puzzle: Check Mate #234

February 14, 2017

Another puzzle from Dragoslav Andric’s 1981 book “Matni Udar”.

White to play and mate Black

2341

Parma v Konei, Budapest 1960 [book says Budimpesta, which I assume is Budapest]

Solution

1 Qg6 is the obvious first move (though my engine tells me that the second best move is 1 Nf6+).

If 1…e6 2 Qg7+! and mates by 3 Rdg1+ etc.

.2342
