Daily chess puzzle: Check Mate #267

March 21, 2017

Another puzzle from Dragoslav Andric’s 1981 book “Matni Udar”.

White to play and mate Black

Teyer v Bradley, Birmingham 1961

Solution

The first move is fairly easy, 1 Rc6+ Kc6[], when I spoiled things by playing the prosaic 2 Ba4+, which is winning, but 2 Qd5+ is far prettier.
