Daily Chess Puzzle IOM
Today’s problem is from the current Chess.com Grand Swiss in Douglas, Isle of Man.
As is my custom, I only say which side is to play: and not giving an idea if the move wins or otherwise, unless on occasion I think signposting would be helpful. Instead, the problems are posed with the instruction to decide what you would play, as in a game.
White to play
Ganguly v Saduakassova, Douglas, Isle of Man. 11 October 2019
Solution
A nice calculation exercise.
1 Qh6+ Qh7 2 Qf6+ Qg7 3 Qf5!
Key: a little move, changing the attack to the white squares.
3…d3 4 Qh5+ Kg8 5 Rg6 1-0: if necessary, Be6+ follows.
